Spatial Light Modulators

Amplitude and Phase Modulation in a Compact Form Factor

The initial development of modern liquid crystal Spatial Light Modulators (SLMs) was a collaborative effort between Cambridge Research & Instrumentation, Inc. (CRi) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). CRi, now part of Caliper Life Sciences, has since been providing SLMs to the ultrafast laser community, and is the leading provider of liquid crystal linear-array SLMs.

Incorporating bonded LC optical masks, our SLMs provide simultaneous phase and amplitude control in a single device, and Caliper Life Sciences holds the exclusive worldwide license for this MIT-patented technology. Both single- and dual-mask configurations are available for phase, amplitude, or simultaneous phase/amplitude pulse shaping.

Our new SLM-128 enclosures are less than half the size of our previous models, and offer the same mask size and high performance in an easier to integrate enclosure.

Solid-state design for rapid, vibrationless wavelength tuning
Wavelengths available in the visible or near-infrared ranges
 High-speed plug-and-play USB interface with Windows® DLL support, LabVIEW™ and Matlab® drivers.

Many of our SLM customers use Biophotonic Solutions' Multiphoton Intrapulse Interference Phase Scan (MIIPS™) technology, the simplest and most accurate method for characterizing femtosecond laser pulses and compensating for nominal dispersion effects.
